Vadodara, 13 January 2026 – In a collaborative effort to foster financial independence among the families of our brave solders, the Abhigam Foundation has partnered with the District Soldier Welfare and Rehabilitation Office (DSWRO) to implement a specialized jewelry-making skill development program. The initiative, led by Lieutenant Colonel (Dr.) Kamalpreet Saggi, provided vocational training to widows and dependent daughters of soldiers, equipping them with professional skills designed for long-term self-reliance.
The program successfully trained 11 beneficiaries in the art of jewelry craftsmanship, bridging the gap between artistic creativity and sustainable livelihood. This training was facilitated by the Abhigam Foundation to ensure that these women could transform their skills into a viable profession. Upon completion of the workshop, the participants gained the expertise necessary to enter the artisan market as self-sufficient entrepreneurs.
The initiative culminated in an exhibition where the participants presented their handcrafted jewelry to the Collector of Vadodara, Shri Anil Dhamelia. During the showcase, the Collector commended the women for their craftsmanship and resilience. Recognizing the quality of the products, Shri Dhamelia assured the participants of the district administration’s continued support, specifically through access to government-assisted exhibitions and dedicated marketing platforms to help scale their outreach.
The joint effort between the Abhigam Foundation and DSWRO serves as a significant example of community-driven women’s empowerment. By providing the tools for economic freedom, the initiative honors the legacy of defense families by ensuring they are empowered with both the confidence and the practical skills required for a dignified livelihood.
