Job Description


Develop Strategy, Goals & Objectives:


  • Define business concept, long-term vision, and business strategy.

  • Create operational measures to ensure the organization is moving towards the desired direction of realizing the Business Plan, Vision, Mission, and Objectives.

  • Capture, evaluate, and analyze competitors' operations – assess the competitive forces in the marketplace that could potentially affect operational excellence.

  • Analyze various aspects of manufacturing process-related competition including competing firms. Create benchmarks to enhance processes and performance metrics, and deploy crucial information about the competition into operational strategies for competitive advantage.

  • Participate in identifying the organization’s thrust areas in line with long-term Vision, Mission, and Strategy.

  • Provide operational insights during PPW for the specific thrust areas.

  • Drive departmental goals derived from thrust areas and cascade them further to the next levels viz., section, sub-section, and individuals.


Drive Operational Excellence:


  • Define and introduce Stretch Performance Measures for the department in line with the organization’s trust areas, Vision, Mission, and Strategies.

  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the organizational structure of the department and make required changes to meet business requirements.

  • Govern and manage SCM, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineering Functions to meet organization as well as departmental goals.

  • Continuously evaluate the performance using effective metrics for all three Functions viz. SCM, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineering and take required actions.

  • Drive development of SOPs for various critical processes for all three functions and ensure execution of orders accordingly.

  • Study the output of all three functions as per the target and business needs and conduct continual improvements and corrective actions.

  • Introduce best manufacturing practices as found fit for the organization to stay ahead of the competition.

  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards of operations across the three functions.

  • Minimize ‘throughput time’ and ‘work in process inventory’ by systematic material, production, and industrial engineering planning and efficient monitoring of the plans.

  • Ensure reduction in quality cost with the help of analysis of non-conformances on a periodic basis and also by following suitable actions (both corrective and preventive)

  • Monitor operations costs and reduce them wherever possible by deploying efficient systems and using plant layouts properly or correctly.

  • Monitor product standards and compliance with quality-control programs for their effectiveness and implement corrective actions.

  • Manage and help provide world-class evaluations and key performance indicators to evaluate and predict performance and process adherence with the operational strategies.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor capacity and utilization measurement standards within various product verticals.

  • Drive root cause analyses, independently and in cross-functional teams (both internal and external), develop mitigations, corrective and preventative actions for operational issues in all three areas - SCM, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineering.

  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to SCM, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineering (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).

  • Lead, monitor, and coordinate major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).

  • Deploy TPM tools and techniques and Lean Manufacturing processes, for enhanced manufacturing outputs.


Team Development and Leadership:


  • Ensure obtaining of the right manpower with the support of HR department.

  • Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish the goals of the operations plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.

  • Act as a liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to communicate decisions, policies, and all matters that affect their performance, attitude, and results.

  • Establish high-performance standards for the team members and guide them to successfully achieve the same.

  • Continuously upgrade team capability and efficiency by providing improvement suggestions.

  • Provide feedback to the team on customer problems or needs.

  • Monitor, improve, measure and manage the performance of the team.

  • Promote a culture of sharing and teamwork for superior performance.
